The typical little village of Isola Rossa and the white beach at La Marinedda are the perfect destination for a break by the sea during the 2nd of June long weekend, a paradise beach on the Golfo dell’Asinara, where the 5 star Hotel La Marinedda is located, well known for its Thalasso Wellness Centre & Spa, the Elicriso.
A long four-day weekend spent discovering traditions and relaxing by the sea. Between the first swims of the season and getting a tan, here are a few things to do in and around La Marinedda.
Among the events not to be missed is La Primavera in Gallura (Spring in Gallura), a piece of travelling theatre through different towns in the area, which offers a presentation of life and rituals that were a part of the culture of the “Gallura stazzi” , typical rural settlements and private houses where shepherds and farmers lived and worked the land.
On June 2nd the third stage of the event looking at traditions in Gallura will be held in Trinità d’Agultu, 5 minutes from Isola Rossa. The presentation based on the theme “L’abbrazzu- Saperi e Sapori” presents the moment of the “embrace” which according to the rituals of the culture surrounding the “Stazzi” marks the moment of the official engagement. This is the formalization after the “Pricunta”, i.e. the request for engagement to the family of the intended bride. The villagers and townspeople in traditional dress re-enact the ancient traditions of Gallura life from the 1700s/1800s: the man’s family go via ox cart to the woman’s home to formalize the engagement in the town square, where stalls are set up that represent the ancient crafts. A journey through traditions and tastings of typical products to discover the real Sardinia just a few steps from the sea.
Instead the morning of June 4th sees the arrival of Primavera in Gallura in Aggius, 20 minutes from Trinità d’Agultu. This stage represents the “transhumance” ritual, i.e. the movement of the shepherds who went in search of new pastures to feed the animals in their herds and flocks. The event in Aggius entitled “Il carro a buoi e i mestieri carrai” will allow you to observe the difficult profession of the wheelwright or cartwright and all the preparatory stages of creating the wagon that once harnessed to the oxen will travel along the road that passes through the rocky valley commonly known as the Valle della Luna, or Valley of the Moon. Aggius will also give you the chance to discover the local tastes and flavours of Gallura by visiting this authentic village with its two museums and the typical narrow streets decorated with artwork by the Sardinian artist Maria Lai and paintings by local artists.
A long June 2nd weekend at La Marinedda with sea and excursions in Northern Sardinia with ethnotours that will allow you to discover the flavours and ancient traditions of this magical island, a mother of pagan customs and rituals that are still celebrated today.
